Description
This course focuses on the care of clients with women’s health, childbearing, and chronic medical/surgical conditions across the lifespan. Students will learn to provide safe, competent, compassionate, and evidence-based patient-centered care for pediatric and adult clients, families, and support person(s). The student demonstrates effective communication techniques, the use of informatics/patient technologies and professional values within a legal/ethical framework. Students integrate critical thinking and the nursing process as bases for clinical reasoning/decision-making using current evidence-based practice. The role of the professional nurse as a patient advocate and collaborative member of the interprofessional team is reinforced through clinical experiences on in-patient units and in community settings.
